Riding Pretty Horses

Do you like horses?

I don't have any wedding thing to go with that.

Inspired because we're watching The Royals. And episode showed horses - maybe a polo match or something.

Anyway - just wondering if you like horses too.

How To Know If You Sing About Your Love Story

Last weekend the wife and I went to see Dirty Grandpa.

I loved it. She liked it.

It is very nawty movie so if you don't like foul language and dirty images drawn on faces of men.

Don't see it.

On the other hand for the women - there's a lot of Zac Efron wearing next to nothing.

Heck it's much more of a eye candy fest for the girls than the guys.

But one key scene Zac and his fiance (Julianne Hough) sing at the rehearsal dinner.

And all I could think is - man, I hope this doesn't become a thing.

Because unless you were in the cast of High School Musical.

Don't do that.

He Deals Like Trump

Is your Facebook feed overrun with angry rants on Trump?

Or Hillary?

Or Colonel, I mean Bernie Sanders?

Man - mine is.

What does that have to do with weddings?

Well learning how to talk politics without stabbing each other with the carving knife at Thanksgiving is an important skill to learn.

But really what I would recommend is reading Trump's "Art of the Deal".

Look - I don't care what you think of him as candidate for president.

This izn't politics.

It's about saving money on the biggest day of your life so far.

And while I wouldn't ask Trump for hair style tips - the man does know how to negotiate.

I also found reading the book a really interesting read - did you know he hired the first woman to build a skyscraper in NYC?

Or that he lost his brother to addiction?

If you read that story without tearing up - you are stone cold.

Should Crazy Uncle Gradrim Officiate?

I was reading about ideas on how to have a smarter wedding.

One of them was to have a family friend officiate.

I was thinking really - drunk uncle Gradrim be the one to marry you?

On the other hand, I saw 2 people get married by director Kevin Smith when he was doing his Hollywood Babylon show in San Antonio last year.

If your wedding vows are the Green Lantern mantra - I guess having Gradrim step in isn't any worse.

Unique And Lovely Ideas And Inspiration For Weddings

Wedding planning is notorious for the required energy, work and time. From choosing invitations to finding the perfect dress, this major life event comes only once in a lifetime for many people. This article will help you to decide what is best for you.

If you decide to handle the food for your wedding, Costco and other wholesale stores are the way to go. When you shop this way, you can buy your food cheaper than at regular retailers. Think about asking friends to help you out with food costs.

If you are assigning any guest to give a speech at your wedding, have him rehearse the speech with you beforehand to ensure that it is appropriate. Wedding guests cover many generations of family and friends, and the humor of newer generations might offend elders.

Make your wedding personal by including elements that embody you, your soon-to-be spouse, and your relationship. Pick a theme that relates to who you are as a couple!

Spice up your wedding reception by choosing an ethnic inspired menu. This will add to the specialness and memories of your reception. Variety is essential to a wedding dinner to make it memorable for all the right reasons.

If you wish to appear absolutely beautiful on your wedding day yet you need to control costs, think of renting diamonds. In this way, you will be able to wear gorgeous jewels at a nominal cost.

Make sure that transportation is taken care of at your wedding. You definitely want to have transportation for yourself, as well as others in the area, that need to be able to get back and forth. Transportation is also helpful for those who have drank too much at your wedding.

If the bride has sensitive skin she can find ways to take the stress out of their lives so they don't end up with facial irritation. Find facial treatments that brighten the complexion with soothing ingredients such as rose hips, oatmeal scrubs and sea salts.

Too many flower arrangements on the guest tables at your reception are usually an interference and an extra unnecessary expense. Most of the time, the flowers are just in the way of your guests. There are some guests that have allergies to flowers, as well. A romantic alternative to floral centerpieces at guest tables is the use of fragrance-free candles.

Practice your walk for when you walk down the aisle. Should you be worried about a mishap, consider some nice flats. No one can see your shoes under your gown anyway, but if you fall on your rear end, they'll see a lot more than shoes.

Be sure to have a place for your guests to wait and mingle while you are taking your photographs. The pictures with the groom's and bride's parties should be shot ahead of time. Pictures of the parents with the bride and groom are also able to be shot beforehand and reduce the wait time for the guests at the reception.

You will want your wedding to be free of errors. Whether this is your first or second time getting married, it takes a lot of planning to make sure things go well. The suggestions from this article are about saving you time and making smart choices that will prevent last-minute situations.

Wedding Tips And Tricks For The Bride And Groom

Planning a wedding, whether it's yours or a friends, can be a tedious and time consuming process. You have a lot of options when it comes to planning a wedding. Read on for some advice about what to do to make it truly memorable.

Take into consideration that you will want to address the topic of religion since it will be a part of your wedding day and the life you're building together. Discuss all aspects of your religion with who you plan on marrying as well as their family too, just so they are comfortable with your beliefs.

Practice how you're going to walk the aisle a lot before your wedding date arrives. Be certain to practice at the wedding venue while wearing your wedding-day shoes. This will give you much more confidence on the big day.

To garner a better price on your wedding venue, look for a date that won't fall during wedding season. Traditional wedding season is from May to September. When this is going on, it will cost more to have a wedding. If you're set on booking during this season, book as far in advance as possible.

When wedding planning, think about what alcohol you want to serve, how you want to serve it, and try to be cost efficient. An open bar is very costly and can become extremely expensive if open for long periods of time. Wedding venues will have different options, such as a limited open bar or a offering fewer options to help keep alcohol costs down.

Ethnic catering can give your reception that extra spice your guests crave. Chicken, steak and such are served at weddings all the time. Why not do something different? Variety should be incorporated into your wedding dinner to make it a memorable experience.

Use decorative items for every part of your wedding theme. Use the same ribbon on the bouquet for your gown, centerpieces, or even your hair. It's the little details which will make your wedding look superior as it shows you've put a real effort into make it your perfect day.

Don't forget about transportation! Try having taxis or limos ready for people that don't have rides back to the hotel after it ends. This helps those who have drank too much.

When inviting loved ones to destination weddings, try finding out if they wish to stay for your honeymoon, too. This will help save money and you may get a better discount. This will help give them a vacation they'll never forget as well!

After you select and purchase your dress, see if you can leave it at the store until the big day. Bringing it home could expose it to dust or dirt, getting it stained or other damages. When the big day arrives, your dress will still be in brand new condition.

Now you have discovered the inner workings of creating, hosting and planning a wedding, this information can help you make your wedding a more intimate experience. Put the advice you have learned in this article to use so that you can create a wedding that will be memorable for everyone involved.

How to Choose The Best Wedding Shoes For Your Magical Wedding

Based on TV shows like "Say Yes To The Dress" and "Bridezilla" it is easy to think that everything is about the dress.

And while the dress is the most visual element to the wedding outfit - you cannot forget about the shoes.

And unlike when you buy other shoes - there are more things you need to consider when buying your wedding shoes.

Many people overlook the importance on how the dress matches with the wedding shoes because they both play a critical role for each other.

First and foremost, you should try on your wedding shoes together with your wedding gown.

Many dresses have a long train and can be a little hard to walk in. You won’t want to trip during the wedding so you should have a good amount of control in the shoes that you choose.

Give yourself a basic set of routine to try the shoes with – you should have no difficulty walking, climbing stairs and even dancing in your wedding shoes.

When you choose your shoes - you have to think not only about how the shoes look on their own. But rather - how will they look with your dress.

And I don't just mean about the colors - but can you even see the shoes with the dress.

If you have a floor length dress - you won't even see the shoes. Plus you need to know how well you can walk in the dress with the shoes - in particular if it's a flowing dress.

You don't want stilettos that will catch on your dress and send you falling down.

Speaking of stilettos - if you are going with heels make sure you know how to walk in them.

If you have not worn heels until your wedding day - you must practice walking in them.

Or you might even want to go with a platform shoe.

Or you might even want to go with a platform shoe.

It gives you the benefits of heels (making your legs and butt look sexier - there is a reason why models area always up on their toes) but with less risk.

And make sure the shoes fit well - you don't want to be uncomfortable in your shoes on your special day.

You wear the uncomfortable shoes to woo the man - not to join him at the alter :).

And to be perfectly candid - if your dress covers your shoes - don't worry about style.

Go for comfort.

You'll be happier.

This means you could go with flats or even a new pair of tennis shoes.

If you feel like you must have style with your shoes - you could look into getting designer tennis shoes.

Tips For Choosing Your Wedding Shoes

Choosing A Color

When you start looking for wedding outfit - you will discover there is more to white than white.

There are almost as many shades of white as there are colors of the rainbow.

And shoes are no different.

Of course you could decide to go with a colored shoe like a navy blue wedding shoe instead of a traditional white shoe.

For example that can be a fun way to wear "something blue".

Or as a way to match your gown if you're going with a non-white gown.

For many women - the style of the shoe is the most important.

Though keep in mind what type of wedding you're having.

You're 6 inch Louis Vuitton's are not going to work for a beach wedding.

And flat sandals would look out of place at a lavish hotel.

Remember - you might be wearing your shoes for several hours.

So make sure you choose shoes you can wear for a long time and not just something that you can suffer through for 30 minutes for the ceremony.

It's not a day to suffer your shoes.

You want something that is comfortable and stylish.

Also, buy shoes towards the end of the day.

The foot expands during the course of the day and you want to buy shoes when your feet are at its largest size.

Tip: Wear your shoes inside the house before the wedding, do this until you can wear your shoes for 4-5 hours without hurting, this’ll make sure that the shoes are soft and comfortable on your wedding day, just don’t wear them outside.

Make Sure Your Shoe Material And Details Match Your Dress.

The fabric of your shoes will need to match to the fabric of the hem of your dress.

So for example - a satin dress should match to shiny shoes.

Or lace material on your shoes if you have a lace hem.

And you go with flatter material on your shoes if you have a matte style finish on your dress.

If you want to have bedzallzed shoes - make sure the crystals on your shoes match well with your dress.

The dress is the lead singer of this group.

The shoes are the backup singers.

Extra shoes

If you want to wear different shoes at the reception but still wear your dress - make sure your reception or dancing shoes heels match to your wedding shoes.

This way you don't find yourself tripping or just looking a bit off because the shoes make the dress look too short.

Wear Your Shoes For Your Alterations

When you go to get your final fitting by the dress tailor - make sure you wear the shoes you'll be wearing for the big day.

If you will be switching shoes - bring both pair.

This way when they measure you for your alterations - they will be measuring you as you plan to look for the big day.

Wedding Tricks For A Fantastic And Memorable Ceremony

You always will want to simplify the whole wedding procedure. This definitely holds true for something as large and as complex as a wedding. Just thinking of it might be overwhelming. These useful wedding tips can ease the process a bit.

If you choose to take care of your own food serving at your wedding, try going to wholesale stores, such as Costco. Shopping wholesale when it comes to food helps you get the necessary items at a much cheaper cost. You can also see if your friends can help with food costs.

Finding your perfect wedding dress might be an expensive activity. When you shop for a dress, try dresses that aren't categorized as wedding dresses. You could try a bridesmaid dress, and it would be cheaper than an actual wedding dress. With the lower base price, you can likely also afford alterations to the style of the dress and still come in under the price of a traditional wedding gown.

Ask the members of your reception who plan to give a speech to practice them with you so you can vet their content. There are a lot of different age groups at a wedding. This makes some jokes told by the younger crowd inappropriate to older people.

When you are choosing a makeup artist for your ceremony, always look at samples of their previous work. Are you comfortable with the makeup they've done before? Also, ensure that the makeup artist has the ability to do your makeup the way you want it done. The last thing you want is to walk down the aisle with a last-minute makeup job.

Take your time when writing vows, and spend as much time as you need to write something meaningful. Marriage is very serious and is a strong way to commit to someone, understand that you both might have to make some sacrifices. Express how much you love the person you are going to marry in your vows.

The wedding DJ needs a list of the songs you want played at the reception, but make sure they know what you dislike. Perhaps it's heavy metal, or country music, or even a previous lover's "special song". No matter what it is, make sure the DJ knows so that you don't have any unpleasant surprises playing at the wedding.

For any stylish and fashion forward bride, there is always the option to add some flare to a bouquet with a splash of diamonds, rhinestones or Swarovski crystals. This can be achieved through heat-fixed crystals, adding a little piece of jewelry or even using an heirloom piece. Make sure it goes with your dress and accessories, and that the color, cut, and size of the stones compliment your ensemble.

You might think that there is no way for a complicated wedding to be simplified, but you just need the right kind of advice to guide you. These tips will help you plan your wedding. Hopefully, this information will help you out when that big day comes.

How The Heck Do You Make Sure Your Wedding Runs Smoothly

"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading" -- Lao Tzu.

Many people have thought long and hard about their wedding day.

Down to the tiny details such as the dress, the hair and even the colors of the flowers.

It can be exciting to finally plan your wedding, but without the right guidance, it can seem overwhelming.

It is important to practice walking down the aisle as often as possible before the ceremony.

Be certain to practice at the wedding venue while wearing your wedding-day shoes.

Doing so helps to ensure a smooth and confident walk when your wedding day comes.

When someone is going to talk during your wedding, be sure to have them rehearse what they're going to say in front of you so that you know what they're saying is appropriate.

There will be a lot of different generations at your wedding, and a joke that young people can relate to might not be good for elders to hear.

Do not avoid eating just so your wedding dress will fit.

Starving yourself will just dehydrate you and make you feel sick.

You may even faint while saying your vows. A good idea is to get a dress that has a corset back; this way, you can keep it on or take it off on your wedding day.

If you do not want a traditional wedding cake, consider individual-sized cakes.

Alternatively, consider something like low-fat cupcakes, gluten-free cake, fruit-filled low calorie cakes, or other such healthy alternatives.

Brides who want to sparkle might like to add some flashy stones to their bouquet, including rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, and even diamonds.

Crystals come in adhesive and heat-fixed varieties, or brides may choose to add pieces of costume jewelry or heirloom pieces to their bouquets.

Consistency is important in regards to stone sizes, cuts and the colors that sparkle, as all this needs to coordinate with your overall ensemble.

When inviting loved ones to destination weddings, try finding out if they wish to stay for your honeymoon, too.

By booking longer stays, money can be saved. Also, this will increase the quality of memories that you have.

Once you have your dress paid off and all ready, it is wise to leave it at the store so it can be properly stored until the big day.

Bringing it home could expose it to dust or dirt, getting it stained or other damages.

It can be safely kept at the store until you need it and can be freshly steamed when you pick it up.

Consider asking someone you know to become ordained and preside over your wedding.

They can do so online. Your ceremony will have a more personal tone, and you can save money by not needing to hire an officiant.

Always consult your local laws to ensure that this is legal, and be sure to get the right paperwork and accreditation in order.

For help with your wedding, you can find local vendors on Craigslist.

Meet up with them in person, do an interview, and discuss your needs and wishes before you pay anything.

Wedding planning doesn't have to turn into an overwhelming stressful event.

You might even enjoy planning it just as much as your actual wedding.

Tips For Choosing Necessities On Your Wedding Registry

Organizing weddings can be a massive task, and many find the detail work simply overwhelming. Read the following article and learn how you can plan a beautiful wedding without going out of your mind. It is easier than you think.

Choose a less popular month to get married if you want to save money. The traditional season for weddings is May to September. At this time, it will be more costly to book a venue for your wedding. Book in advance if you must schedule your wedding during this time.

When you plan your wedding, be sure to think about cost effective alcohol options. Keeping an open bar doesn't come cheap, but keeping it open for an extended time can be even more costly. Ask about which alcohol serving options are available through your venue.

If you will be preparing the food for your wedding, shop at wholesale stores. This will allow you to save loads of money. Consider asking your friends to help with the costs of food.

Purchasing wedding gowns through the Internet can help save you a lot of money, but see to it that you do it early in order to have enough time to alter it if needed. For example, you may purchase your dress for $100, but you need to spend an additional $200 on alterations. Be sure to include the potential alterations cost into your budget.

Make your wedding personal by including elements that embody you, your soon-to-be spouse, and your relationship. Pick out a theme that reflects your time together.

Do not under-eat in an effort to fit into your dress. If you rush the weight loss process, your health will surely suffer. The last thing you will want to do is faint. Buy a dress that has a corset back instead for more flexibility.

When you are planning your wedding don't forget that people are going to need to get from your venue back to their hotel. Try to get taxis and limos for people that can't get a ride so they can get back to where they're staying when the night ends. This is good for those drinking alcohol.

If you're a bride that has sensitive skin, then you want to pay close attention to your skin care regimen when your big day is approaching. Find products with oatmeal proteins and sea salts, for example.

Practice before a mirror for your walk down the aisle. Flats may be a better choice if you think you may hurt your feet. This will help you to feel comfortable on the big day.

This person should be able to tote around all of your things for you. They can help you with other stuff, like gathering the family for group shots, also.

Wedding planning isn't as difficult as most people think it is. When you take advantage of the right assistance and advice, planning a lovely wedding day is a snap. Apply all of the advice that you have read into your wedding for the best results.

What Are Best Places To Elope

What do you think are the best places in the world to elope?

I know you might be thinking - what is a blog that talks about blissful marriages go around talking about best places to elope.

And that is because I'm sure almost every couple - even Prince Harry and Duchess Catherine - has thought about it.

However, there are many other reasons why people decide to elope.

Sometimes, it is a matter of parents not approving of their child's choice of a future mate.

On other occasions, couples just want to have a very private, intimate wedding without all of the fanfare that a traditional wedding involves.

Whatever the reason that you and your beloved have for eloping is not important.

The important thing is to choose the best place to elope.

It must be stated that there are many wonderful destinations for a young couple to elope.

The following examples are just a few of my personal favorites.

Sometimes young couples elope on the spur of the moment and therefore may not have the time to choose the best location. However, if you are planning to elope in the near future you should research some of the best places to elope.

Here are some alternatives to a Las Vegas drive-through marriage.

Napa Valley

Napa Valley, California is a wonderful destination for any young couple to get married. It has amazing scenery and the weather is gorgeous year round. There are vineyards around every corner and you and your loved one can celebrate your marriage by choosing a case of your favorite wine or champagne.

Niagra Falls

Another romantic destination is Niagara Falls, Canada. Niagara Falls is one of the most romantic locations for you to get married and to have your honeymoon.

It will be a wonderful occasion that you will never forget because of the magnificent roaring waters of the falls.

The only thing that you will need to bring along is a cute pair of rubber boots and a colorful raincoat. If you think of eloping outside of the US - double-check with your county clerk's office to find out what you need to do make it legal.

The marriage license is what says your married not the wonderful setting.

San Francisco

Have you ever heard of a singer called Tony Bennett? Tony Bennett sang the song called, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". The reason why Tony left his heart in San Francisco is because the San Francisco Bay Area is gorgeous. There are so many wonderful things to see including the Golden Gate Bridge and many Oceanside parks.

There is always something intensely romantic about the Caribbean. Many couples are eloping to one of the many islands that are scattered throughout the Caribbean. A favorite destination for many is a wonderful location called Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

This Oceanside resort offers a variety of all-inclusive destinations.

The crystal blue waters of the Caribbean are some of the most beautiful waters in the entire world. One of the advantages of an all-inclusive elopement is that you do not have to think about anything except enjoying your honeymoon. Another exciting Caribbean destination is the private island of Kamalame Cay, Bahamas.

This private island contains 96 private acres with only 19 seaside rooms and villas. The couple that owns this beautiful resort are from Jamaica and they truly understand the beauty of the islands.

This island is only a 150 miles from Miami but when you go there you will feel like you are in another world. This would make an awesome destination for any young couple.

One of the world's favorite destinations to elope is to Paris, France. There is nothing more romantic than a casual stroll on the Left Bank. There are many places to stay that are surrounded by galleries, shops, and so much more. Paris France has always been one of the premier cities for weddings of all types. Imagine what your bride would say if you surprised her with an elopement to Paris, France?

A newer, novel idea that will offer you a wonderful place to elope is to go on a cruise. A cruise ship offers everything that you would ever want. You have fine dining, comfortable accommodation, interesting ports of call, entertainment, and a lot of fun.

Taking a cruise as a place to elope is an awesome idea that you will never forget. As a bonus, you can choose a cruise that goes to a variety of wonderful destinations. Whether it is in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, or even up to Alaska, a cruise is a good choice for an elopement.

Disney World

Have you ever considered eloping to Disney World in Orlando, Florida? Disney World has a variety of theme parks that will entertain you morning and night. If you stay at one of the Disney resorts you can relax and travele back and forth to any of theme parks that you choose. You can even choose a diner plan which will allow you and your new bride to sample some of the best foods from around the world.

New Zealand

Have you ever considered New Zealand as a destination for your honeymoon? New Zealand is one of the more environmental friendly countries in the entire world. Many young people today are concerned about the environment and therefore New Zealand would be a wonderful country to elope to if you enjoy incredible natural scenery.

London, England

If you like history and architecture from years gone by then you and your future mate should elope to London, England. You can spend months touring all of the various museums and historical locations in and around London.

You would be able to visit some of the more famous locations such as Buckingham Palace, the world-famous British Museum, and the incredible Tower of London.

London is a classic destination for couples who love history. As a bonus, many of London's top 10 special attractions are free which makes London very affordable destination.

Quick Guide To Plan The Best Wedding Ever

How does a forgotten rock star and retired MTV VJ make headlines for getting married in ther middle ages?

By getting married on Christmas.

Heck, my wife and I didn't even know they were dating.

Oh yeah - we're talking about Rick Springfield and Daisy Fuentes.

And I'm sure they planned out their wedding.

So here are some tips on how to plan your wedding.

Should you be marrying soon, you probably have many questions regarding planning the event. The planning of your wedding should be fun and you really don't want a lot of stress as you approach your wedding day. Follow the tried and true tips presented here to plan your wedding stress-free.

When you are planning your wedding festivities, think hard about the kinds of alcoholic beverages that are going to be available, and also how much of a price tag they will carry. If there's a bar that's open, it can be expensive, especially the longer it's open. See what other serving options are available for your alcohol.

Internet bridal shops have wedding dresses for bargain basement prices, but make sure to order well in advance so that you can get your dress altered before the big day. You want to make sure that you think about other expenses that you might not commonly think of, like having the wedding gown altered, which can cost extra money. Keep in mind any additional costs, and include it in your budget.

You can plan a personalized wedding by choosing elements that reflect who you are. Select a theme that represents the time that you have spent with each other.

Try ethnic-themed catering to add some spice to your reception. Think outside the traditional choices of chicken or steak. Your wedding dinner can be very memorable when it includes interesting variety.

Look to renting diamonds for your special day if you are on a strict budget but still want to have that special look. By renting jewelry instead of buying, you can get the look that you dreamed of for your wedding day without having to spend thousands of dollars.

Make certain that your choice for the reception has enough dancing space. You won't have as much fun dancing if the space is too tight. Consider removing unneeded tables and chairs before your reception begins so that there will be more room to dance.

If you are having a destination wedding, why not treat your guests with an indulgent gift basket delivered right to their hotel rooms? Include gifts that are sure to be useful while on location at the wedding, like sunglasses, tourist maps, disposable cameras, hats, and pamphlets that detail all of the best attractions in the local area. You could also include flyers and coupons for local restaurants.

When making table assignments for your reception, ensure that even numbers of guests will be at each table. If you group your guests together by age, they will have more in common in terms of conversation topics.

Online communities, like Craigslist, are ideal for locating talented musicians, photographers and caterers. Be sure you always meet the people who you are going to have provide you a service before the big day; you want to get a sense of who they are and what they're capable of in advance.

Now that you're more informed about wedding planning, you can go through with your plans and hang on to your sanity. Enjoy every minute of the preparation and then sit back and know that you have done everything you can to plan the special day.

You're Doing It Wrong: Wedding Planning

Do you want to be stressed out on your wedding day?

Professional wedding planners wouldn't exist if the job of planning a wedding was easy! Perhaps you are somewhat clueless at the moment, but read on for some great advice that will see you through!

The earlier you buy things for your wedding and plan things out the cheaper they should be. You can even find great deals online so be sure to shop around. It is perfectly possible to purchase a gown for a few hundred dollars and have it altered for as little as $200. Make sure the costs are included in your budget.

Spice up your wedding reception by choosing an ethnic inspired menu. Chicken and steak are a little boring, so how about going for a variety? Ethnic foods and decor will help your reception be memorable.

Look at samples of past work before hiring a makeup artist. This will help you to rule out make up artists whose styles do not mesh with your own. They must be able to create the exact type of look you want. Your appearance on your wedding day is important, so you don't want to regret your decision later.

Take your time in writing your vows, they're personal and meaningful and must have effort put into them. Be clear about the fact that both parties must make a number of sacrifices and be consistent to the commitment of marriage. Take this opportunity to express your love for your betrothed so that will always be a part of your wedding ceremony.

You don't need a big, expensive, flashy wedding cake. Talk to your local bakery owner about something smaller, or pre-cut into individual portions. A variety of healthy alternatives are available for a wedding cake that won't cause sugar shock.

A relative or friend can serve as your assistant, as often the only requirement for the job is being able to haul your gear. They can help to gather up the family for group shots as well.

Your guests shouldn't have to hang around while your pictures are taken. You should take wedding pictures beforehand. Pictures with those being wed and their parents should also be taken beforehand if possible.

Midday is the best time to have wedding receptions. Your bar tab will be significantly less as people drink less in daylight. It will also be cheaper if you have a lunch time reception and you can have better food or use the money saved to invest in your honeymoon!

Put your schedule of events online, so that all guests can access it at any time. Include relevant information about the rehearsal dinner, reception and so on, so that each person knows where to be.

Although you may have found and purchased the perfect dress, it is a good idea to have the bridal shop hold it until the big day. By putting it in your closet, it could get wrinkly or get stained. If you keep it at the shop until the big day, it will ensure it is in pristine condition when you wear it.

Planning weddings can be very challenging, but by taking the ideas in this piece to heart, you stand a good chance of creating a truly memorable event. Hopefully the information in this article provided you with some valuable knowledge to help make wedding planning fun and even enjoyable.

5 Things to Look for in a Wedding Planner

Let me tell you a story about a sad wedding.

I watched a news story about women in the local Dallas area who had hired a local wedding planner.

The planner was supposed to help them with their day of wedding planning and coordinating.

But on the day of the wedding - the wedding coordinator never showed.

What Does A Wedding Planner Do

A day of wedding planner or coordinator provides a variety of tasks:
  • ranging from helping to scheduling
  • hiring the photographer
  • hiring other staff
  • running the wedding

Why You Need Day of Wedding Coordinator

If your only concept of a wedding planner is from the movies - you might think it's an unnecessary extravagance.

But I can tell you from experience - you need someone in this role.

The most memorable experience I had was when our friend E got married. She was going to do it herself at her wedding.

My wife ended up taking over because clearly E was overwhelmed.

You need someone on the day of the wedding who is not in the party at the alter.

For example:
  • Make sure people get lined up
  • The photographer is setup
  • If necessary - have an alternate officiator on speed dial

How To Avoid A Dishonest Wedding Planner

The brides to be in this story were on a tight budget and wanted to save money.

So they hired a local woman to do the job - but then the person they hired didn't do the job.

And this led to the new story.

And as part of the news story - they gave the address to the planner's website.

I looked up the website.

And within 30 seconds - I could tell that I would never ever consider doing business with this person.

The reason is -there was nothing to indicate a real business here.

My wife, who is not technical, felt she could have created a better site.

But that's not the problem - a local business service like a wedding planner doesn't need anything fancy.

In fact I would advise against it.

But I would expect to see photos from weddings, testimonials and listings with relevant organizations like the BBB.

So here are 5 tips that I would use to look for in a reputable day of wedding coordinator.

Photos Of Actual Weddings They PerformedIt's the age of cameras in our pockets, selfies and social media.

At the very least they should have links to their social media accounts with photos from the weddings.

They should have at least a handful of photos on their website.

Testimonials On Their Website

If the planner doesn't have any testimonials on their website I would put them at the bottom of the list.

If they don't have testimonials on their site but you still are interested in hiring the planner - ask to talk to previous customers.

I would also want them to be members of organizations like the Association of Bridal Consultants and the BBB.

This is because if you are looking for a professional planner - then you should expect them to be be members of the professional organizations.

Bonus points if they are members of your local Chambers of Commerce - the more they are involved in your community the better.

You should also search on Yelp, Google and Twitter to see what anyone else might have said about the planner.

Talk to References

If you find a planner you like - make sure you talk to their references.

And focus your questions on how they handled any difficult situations.

Anyone can handle a perfect wedding but how did they react when something went wrong.

Get A Contract

I'm not a lawyer so you should consult one if you have questions on this.

But the way I look at it is that this is a business relationship.

Make sure you have a contract in place - to protect both sides.

Don't Pay All Up Front

Never pay the entire fee up front.

I wouldn't even go over 50%.

If you pay everything up front - then there is not much incentive for them to do their job.

And any reputable service professional is going to expect this type of arrangement.
